The Lipee Tangkhul keyboard features the Tangkhul script, which is similar to the Latin alphabet but incorporates the characters Ā and A̱, which are not available in the default keyboard. These additional characters are imperative in giving meaning to the language. We also include an auto-suggestion feature to make typing easier, and will slowly expand to include more words from the Tangkhul vocabulary.
We would like to thank the members of Āva̱ramtui for their collaboration to make this product possible.
We hope that this keyboard encourages typing in the Tangkhul language daily and enriches its online presence. We encourage users to provide us with new feature requests. Any other feedback that can help the user experience is welcome.
The Tangkhul people adopted Roman Script for writing their language when Rev. William Pettigrew came to Hunphun, and introduced it to them. Tangkhul Language phonetically varies from English and needs extra characters. Two additional character Ā and A̱ were incorporated, and since then education and writing has continued using this modified Roman Script. This keyboard hopefully captures this diversity and promotes the language further.
